Follow below for an exclusive interview between our own Co-founder and Chief Wine Officer Fabrice Mopin and the French artist where you will have the opportunity to learn more about Monsieur Z’s story and his contributions to the global art scene.

Richard, Monsieur Z, you are recognized as an artist of great talent and a leading figure in the field of illustration. Your works are known worldwide. How did this calling come about?

Hello, I’ve always loved to draw. Since the age of 5, my parents enrolled me in a painting academy where I learned to express myself through lines and colors. It can be said that I fell in love with drawing from a very young age.

Later, I attended classes at the Estienne School of Graphic Arts in Paris, a magnificent school that allowed me to learn and connect with other artists, illustrators, and graphic designers. Many of them have become professionals in the field of arts.

National and international recognition gradually came through my various works, which were seen and acknowledged all over the world through magazines, advertisements, and exhibitions. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with communication agencies.

My artistic journey is the result of my passion and dedication to art. It’s an adventure that has allowed me to fulfill my dreams and share my creativity with a global audience.

Photo of French illustrator Monsieur Z.Magazines and highly reputed brands seek your talent; you are the creator of an animated series, and you design movie posters. Can you mention your past, current, and future collaborations?

Over my 25-year artistic career, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with prestigious magazines from around the world, including Wallpaper magazine, Esquire, Vogue Japan, Marie Claire, ELLE Spain, ELLE France, Brutus Casa Japan, and I’ve also been featured in several articles in Maison Côté Sud for my Riviera posters.

I’ve also been fortunate to work in the advertising field for major brands such as McDonald’s, Suisse Delice, Evian, TGV SNCF, Dior, BMW, Air France, most recently with Nutella, and many more. In my 25-year career, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with numerous globally renowned brands, and there are so many that I couldn’t list them all here!

Additionally, I am the creator of the animated TV series “Ratz,” currently streaming on Netflix in collaboration with Eric and Ramzy, JetGroove, and Freefonix, produced by the BBC. Currently, I’m working on redesigning a significant portion of Marcel Pagnol’s film catalog for MK2 films, creating new posters for his early films such as “César,” “Fanny,” “Marius,” as well as “La Femme du Boulanger” and “La Fille du Puisatier,” to name a few.

My artistic journey is truly rich and diverse, and I’m honored to have contributed significantly to such varied creative projects.

You create unique artworks for Vinesia, which will be included in prestigious wine cases. Buyers of these one-of-a-kind crates will not only own very large bottles, but also one of your artworks. What motivated you to partner with Vinesia?

Indeed, beautiful projects often stem from beautiful encounters. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Fabrice Mopin, who introduced me to the Vinesia project from its inception. When he explained that he was looking for artists and wanted me to collaborate with him, I immediately agreed. I am a passionate enthusiast of fine products and terroir, and I firmly believe that art, much like fine wine, gains value through craftsmanship, love, and time invested.

This collaboration with Vinesia represents an exciting opportunity for me to marry art with a passion for terroir culture. It’s a unique chance to create something special that will capture these exceptional products’ richness and authenticity. I look forward to seeing how this collaboration evolves and to contributing to a project that seamlessly blends art and the world of wine.
